You choose the shop. Not your insurer.

After an accident, your insurance company may suggest a body shop from its own list. That's a suggestion, not a requirement. Texas law (Insurance Code §1952.301) protects your right to choose where your car is repaired, and your insurer can't make you use a particular shop.

Choosing Newspeed doesn't mean extra paperwork for you. We work with your adjuster directly: we inspect the car, write a clear estimate, and handle the back-and-forth if more damage turns up once the repair starts.

Not sure whether to file a claim at all? Bring the car by first. Knowing what the repair involves can help you decide whether a claim makes sense compared to your deductible.

Been in an accident? Here's how it works.

Dealing with an accident is stressful enough. Here's the short version of what happens next.

  1. Get safe, get the facts

Take photos of both cars, the other driver's insurance card, and the police report number if there is one.

  2. Open your claim

Call your insurer, or the other driver's, to start the claim. You don't need to wait for them to pick a shop.

  3. Bring it to Newspeed

We look it over, write a clear estimate before any work starts, and work directly with your adjuster.

  4. Drive it home

Quick turnaround, backed by our satisfaction guarantee.

Your claim or theirs?

Texas is an at-fault state, so who pays depends on who caused the accident. Either way, we work with the insurer that's paying.

The other driver was at fault

You can file with the other driver's insurance. Their liability coverage pays for your repair, and you usually don't pay a deductible. You can also file with your own insurer if you have collision coverage and want things to move faster.

You were at fault, or it's unclear

You file with your own insurance under your collision coverage, and you pay your deductible. If fault is still being sorted out, start the claim with your insurer anyway so the repair isn't held up.

Common questions

Something else on your mind? Call (512) 923-4919.

Can I choose Newspeed even if my insurer suggested another shop?

Yes. Texas law (Insurance Code §1952.301) protects your right to choose your repair shop, and an insurer can't require you to use a particular one. Tell your adjuster you want the car repaired at Newspeed Automotive.

Do I have to pay a deductible?

If you're claiming on your own policy, usually yes. If the other driver's insurance is paying for the repair, you usually don't pay a deductible.

What if the insurance estimate is lower than the repair cost?

It happens, often because hidden damage shows up once parts come off. We document what we find and work it out with your adjuster before doing the extra work.

Do I need to wait for the adjuster before bringing the car in?

No. Open your claim, then bring the car to us. We'll work with the adjuster from there.

Which insurance companies do you work with?

All of them. We work directly with State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, and every other carrier.
